CONTRACTIONS WHILE BREASTFEEDING?

Yes, you are done laboring, but yes, those ARE contractions you feel! Did you know that in the first few weeks of breastfeeding you still get small contractions? Yup, that’s right, and yes, they also hurt!

This is a good thing though! Though they do hurt like hell, they help you get that body back!

Nipple stimulation while feeding your new little bundle of joy creates oxytocin, that love hormone. This hormone is released into the bloodstream; a hormone which lets your body know to contract your muscles causing your uterus to contract back to its normal size. These same contractions also prevent the body from any hemorrhaging.

These temporary contractions may feel like really bad period cramps but they’re doing the body so much good. Just one small joy of breastfeeding. Remember, these painful contractions don’t last very long and are doing your body good!
